Dr. Stephen Mecca teaches nuclear physics at Providence College and is chairman of the state Atomic Energy commission. . Four years ago he was a visiting professor in Ghana and was appalled by the sanitation there. and so, working with a Ghanian engineer he developed a biofill digester. And then he developed a toilet valve that could be flushed with less than 50 cubic centimeters of water and married the two technologies to create the microflush-biofill toilet.
